Bangkok: Day 4

Day 4:

I couldn’t sleep as usual and went for a run around 4 am. It was nice to walk/run around the city at this time of the day because it is completely different from the usual chaos. At first I was a bit scared but the people that work in the Hotel told me I shouldn’t worry at all because it was super safe and they were right.

Got back to the hotel, showered and went to the Chatuchak Market which only opens on weekends. I heard it was better to go early in the morning because after 9-10 am it gets super crowded and they were right again. So if you ever visit Bangkok and decide to visit this market, try to go before 9 am.

Chatuchak Weekend Market is the largest market in Thailand. It’s been open for more than 60 years since 1942.

Also known as JJ Market, it has more than 8000 stalls which are separated into 27 sections. Chatuchak Market has 9 kinds of goods: plants, antiques, pets, food and drinks, fresh and dry food, ceramics, furniture and home decoration, clothes, and book.

It is open on Saturdays and Sundays, 09:00–18:00, and Fridays 18:00–24:00. You can get to Chatuchak Market by the sky train (BTS) to Mo Chit Station.

We than headed to Silom for lunch and walked around the neighborhood for a bit. There are plenty of restaurants in that area.

We passed in front of this place called “Unicorn Cafe” full of unicorns and pink furniture. Definitely something you won’t find at home. At least not in Brasil. They serve different types of cakes and candies.

After walking around Silom, I decided to go back and check the malls around my neighborhood, as this was my last day in Bangkok.

I used the Sky Train to go back and stopped at the Silom Station where all the malls are.

Some are super fancy and full of expensive stores, some just like any other mall and the one I liked the most is called Siam Discovery, which was less glamurous and more sophisticated / futuristic.

Each floor had something different. One had clothes, the other one had things for your house, everything was super modern and nice.

Eu não consegui dormir para variar e como de costume fui correr ao redor de 04:00 da manhã. Foi legal caminhar / correr ao redor da cidade nessa hora do dia porque é completamente diferente do caos habitual. No começo eu estava com um pouco de medo, mas as pessoas que trabalham no hotel me disseram que eu não deveria me preocupar porque é super seguro e ele eles estavam certos.
Voltamos para o hotel, tomei banho e fui para o Chatuchak Market que só abre de fim de semana. Ouvi dizer que era melhor ir de manhã cedo, porque depois de 9-10 am fica super lotado e novamente eles estavam certos. Portanto, se alguma vez você for visitar Bangkok e decidir visitar este mercado, tente chegar antes de 9 da manhã.
